These forts were part of the "Front on the ground" of Cagliari, built in the middle of the war (1942-43) and that counted a total of 90 permanent posts grouped in Capisaldi. Around the hill there were about 15 forts, some are still visible while others are semi-destroyed, never completed or hidden by vegetation. In the video we counted 8 positions of different types, from casemates for automatic weapons to uncovered positions for automatic weapons with shelter and "well" positions like "Tobruk". The other cornerstones of the "Fronte a Terra" of Cagliari are still visible in Molentargius, at the mouth of the Rio Fangario (Santa Gilla), at Casa Pernis (V. Piero della Francesca), at Casa Zapata (Pirri), in the C.E.P. and on the hill of S. Elia. Their function was to block the road against both landings and attacks from the hinterland and today are of significant historical and artistic interest.
