How I went from insomnia to the best sleep of my life (and how you can too).
Sleep. Some of us can’t get enough of it, while others are in a love-hate relationship.

For many years after becoming an entrepreneur, I was the latter. Like every human, my mind and body needed sleep to function. The problem was, I had trouble actually falling asleep in the first place.

Now, I will say that there are variances of how one would define an insomniac. I wasn’t suffering from chronic insomnia that could do serious damage to my well-being. However, there were many periods when I would only get two to three hours of sleep during the week.

If mild and periodic insomnia is something you face, or even chronic insomnia, read on. As my work, relationships, and overall energy began to decline further, I took serious action to research and ‘self-experiment’ on fixing my insomnia for good.

CES 2018 The gadgets that impressed us the most on Day 1.
The Consumer Electronics Show opened on Tuesday with thousands of exhibitors showcasing what is arguably the best technology on planet earth at the moment. It is hard to see everything that is on show at Las Vegas over this week, but on Day One we found quite a few gadgets that really impressed us. Here is a list.

Yes, this does not even need extra apps to record its high quality immersive 3D audio. We did try out the audio recorded with these headsets and the results were really impressive. The headset, expected to come to India in the coming weeks, works only on Apple iPhones and an Android version is expected.

Can an Arrow Fired Straight Up Fall Fast Enough to Kill You.
In a recent episode of Mythbusters, Brian and Jon (the new MythBusters) wanted to see what happens when you shoot an arrow straight up into the air. It will obviously come back down—but would it still be moving fast enough to kill you? If you are a MythBuster, the best option is to actually shoot an arrow straight up into the air and measure its velocity on impact. But for normal people, it might be better to just calculate the final arrow speed. Also one note—I& #x27;m currently a science consultant for the show.

OK, let& #x27;s start with a basic physics problem. How fast would an object be moving if you dropped it from a height of 300 feet (91.4 meters)? When an object is in free fall, there is only the gravitational force acting on it. Since both the acceleration and the gravitational force depend on the mass, all objects fall with the same acceleration (regardless of mass) with a rate of g = 9.8 m/s2. Of course, this is only true if you ignore air resistance—but we will get to that soon.

If the object starts at a vertical postion y = h and ends at y = 0 meters with a starting speed of 0 m/s, then the final velocity can be found with the following equation. If you want more details on kinematics, here is a resource.

Using the starting height of 91.4 meters, I get a final velocity of 42.3 meters per second (which would be 94.6 mph). So right there you can see that this is a fairly nice estimation of the motion of the arrow. But that analysis leaves off one important aspect—air resistance. As an object moves through the air, there is a force pushing back in the opposite direction of the object& #x27;s velocity. The magnitude of this air resistance force increases with velocity and also depends on the air and the size of the object. This air resistance force can be written as the following equation:

The Razer Phone has already proven to be quite the mobile entertainment center, due in no small part to the device's speedy 120Hz display. However, Razer will soon be partnering with Netflix to improve the experience even further.

In an upcoming software update, both companies will be bringing Dolby's Digital 5.1 surround sound functionality and HDR video playback to the Razer Phone's Netflix app, making it the first smartphone to pack both of these technologies into one device.

"The Razer Phone brings an incredible Netflix viewing experience to the smartphone," said Anthony Park, Netflix's vice president of engineering. "We look forward to delivering this experience to our members around the world so they can watch their favorite entertainment on the go in the best possible quality."

The 5.1 surround sound feature will be accessible by using either THX-certified headphones or the device's built-in "Dolby-optimized" speakers.

Sprint customers are about to get a very unpleasant bill hike.
Existing Sprint customers who signed up under two long-running deals are about to get a very unpleasant new years’ shock. The “Unlimited freedom” and “50% off” deals, which have been running for two years, are ending this month, which means that some bills will double.

“Customers on Unlimited Freedom and 50% off were informed when they signed up with Sprint that the plans were introductory pricing and would increase in price at a future date,” a Sprint spokesperson told Fierce Wireless. “The great news is these customers are still paying less for their service compared to other major carriers. Plus, Sprint now provides unlimited customers Hulu at no additional cost.”

Meltdown, Spectre Patches May Brick Old AMD PCs.
Some AMD system owners reported that the latest Windows patches, which include the fixes for the Meltdown and Spectre CPU flaws, have been bricking their computers. Following these reports, Microsoft decided to halt the updates until it tracks down the issues and makes the necessary changes.



Microsoft has begun issuing Meltdown and Spectre fixes in its cumulative Windows update, but some owners of computers with AMD Athlon 64 X2 CPUs started complaining that the update made their machines unbootable.

To make matters worse, the fact that the update was mandatory meant that there was no easy way to disable the updates, either.

LAS VEGAS — Huawei's Mate 10 Pro finally has a U.S. release date, a price and even a fancy alternative version whipped up by Porsche Design. What it doesn't have is a wireless carrier as a launch partner, as had been reported.

Credit: HuaweiHuawei announced today (Jan. 9) that it will start taking preorders for its Mate 10 Pro flagship phone on Feb. 4. Order the $799 phone before it officially goes on sale Feb. 18, and you can get a $150 gift card from whichever retailer you place your order with.

You can buy a Mate 10 in Midnight Black or Titanium Gray from Amazon, Best Buy, Microsoft, B&H and Newegg. Missing from that list is any wireless carrier. In the buildup to the Mate 10 Pro's U.S. launch, rumors had suggested the phone maker would team up with AT&T to offer the phone. However, a day before Huawei's keynote here at CES 2018, the Wall Street Journal reported that AT&T had walked away from the deal.
